Lloyd Chapin Wins His First Race at the Milwaukee Mile

"Three hours of practice, seat time and patience," said Chapin, led him to winning his first SKFSA 31E Band Grand National Series race Monday night in Wisconsin.  After qualifying second, the # 71 Harley Davidson sponsored Chevy took the lead on the 11th lap in this 15th race of the GNS season.  Chapin held on to the top spot for the majority of the remaining 80 laps at the Milwaukee Mile and drove the # 71 all the way to victory lane, ending his first victory, by lighting up his tires across the start/ finish line.  Phillip Jeffries finished second followed by Marcus Wright, Brian Powers, and Mark Davis, filling out the top five. Jefferies also qualified his # 10 Dodge on the pole for this war of tire attrition with a quick lap time of 31.312.

Jeffries' second place finish moves him into first place in the points standings, two points ahead of Jeff Purvis.  Purvis' night ended early after being wrecked soon after the race had begun by his [explicative] team mate.  Engine trouble sent him to the garage midway through the race.  The series heads for New Hampshire next week.
