Phillip Jeffries Opens a Can in Nashville
(June 8, 2009)
Phillip Jefferies, in his
Matney's Diesel Service sponsored Dodge, had his way
with track and the competition at the 31E Band Grand
National Series June Race held at the Nashville
Superspeedway Monday night. He started off his
domination of the event by turning in a sizzling
31.352 second lap in qualifying to take the pole,
almost 25 hundredths quicker than second place
qualifier, Anthony Ford.
Once the Race began, the results were virtually the
same. Only losing the lead when pitting during
this yellow flag free race, Jefferies smashed his
way around the Lebanon, Tennessee, Superspeedway
taking the victory in true Tennessee Titan style.
Rounding out the top five were Jamie Anderson, Jeff
Purvis, Keith Coffman, and
Anthony Ford. The SKFSA Hard Charger Award went to
Keith Coffman who improved 4 spots from his 8th
qualifying position and The Glasgow Primary Care
Headache Award at the Nashville June Race was
Anthony Ford's Monday night as he slipped 4 spots
from his 2nd qualifying position.
Jefferies victory in Smashville moved him up from
3rd to 2nd in the series points standings. The
Matney's Diesel Service Dodge in now only 36 points
behind leader, Jeff Purvis, heading into next week's
race at the Kentucky Speedway.
